Vestibular Rehabiliation
Offered by Christina & BreAnne
Are you feeling dizzy, lightheaded, experiencing vertigo (room spinning), nausea, or imbalance?
Whether your symptoms are caused by Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) or an issue with the system controlling dizziness and balance, we offer various treatments and exercises to help alleviate your symptoms.
What Does Treatment Involve? Depends on the underlying cause!
-
BPPV: This condition has a specific treatment protocol involving positioning techniques tailored to the part of the inner ear affected. Your physiotherapist, will determine the appropriate technique by assessing your eye movement during each test.
-
Other Conditions: Treatment may include a combination of manual therapy and a tailored exercise program. Exercise prescriptions are based on three principles:
-
Adaptation: Adjusting the system to reduce dizziness.
-
Habituation: Reducing sensitivity to dizziness-inducing stimuli.
-
Substitution: Training the system to use alternative mechanisms to maintain balance.
-
Our goal is to retrain your system so that certain stimuli no longer cause dizziness.
